Responsibilities:
  • Be punctual and dependable
  • Have reliable transportation to and from the job site
  • Attend daily safety/work plan meetings
  • Perform daily equipment inspection and safety checklist
  • Responsible for overall condition of assigned machine
  • Maintain proper working condition of machinery and report any damage to equipment manager 
  • Assist in field maintenance on machinery 
  • Be a team player 
 
DUTIES:
  • Must be proficient with operating hydraulic excavators in trenching and pipe installation applications.
  • Must be able to safely excavate trench to OSHA standards
  • Must be able to dig trench on grade for site lighting conduit, precast pole bases, manholes, handholes, primary power conduit, phone conduit, etc. 
  • Muse be proficient in rigging and lifting for laying pipe, and setting precast pole bases, manholes and drainage structures
  • Must understand basic backfilling and compaction principles
  • Must understand the fundamentals of excavator operation in trenching and pipe laying applications
  • Must be able to perform daily machine inspections and report any faults
  • Must be willing to clean cabs, clean tracks, and grease machine after every shift
 
Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with crew members
  • Position requires the ability to sit 50% of the time and walk or stand 50% of the time. Physical demands may include balancing, pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, carrying, lifting at least 75 pounds. Working conditions are outside and wet, dirty, hot/humid, dusty, cold, noisy with hazards. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  
  • Must be able to speak English and communicate effectively with other crew members and supervisors. 
 
Preferred Education/Certifications/Training
  • OSHA 10 Hour Certification - REQUIRED
  • Rigging Certification
  • Confined Space Certification
  • First Aid/CPR Training
  • Competent Person Certificate for Trench Excavation/Shoring

Compensation: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
